2000 ft ridge - nice powder in shady north slopes, some wind and sun crusting

South Rockies

Great day on 2000 ft ridge. About 15-35 cm of medium density powder on top of that spring crust from last week’s warming period. Dug one pit on a north slope: fairly thick crust from the melt freeze cycle, seemed bonded to what was underneath though some facets in the mix. I dug down but didn’t find that layer 1 metre down we were worried about. Definitely some wind present from the south/south east: see photos of cornices developing. Some evidence of windslab. Skied rhe trees down, it was great.
