Thick cloud made navigating the south ridge of Lizard Back slow. We broke through the inversion at around 2070m and there was very minimal wind at the ridge top. Boot packed through the thick crust from 2000m to the top and arrived at 1215. It stayed cool to the peak, we did not observe any softening of the snow pack. The hard crust made for a slow descent.
Thick surface hoar (up to about an inch tall feathers) covered just about everything in sheltered areas on all aspects.
Beautiful day out!
