Quick Observation

Went up Rhor Ridge for the day. The temperature effects of the past week were very evident in the trees at lower elevations for the skin up making for an icy start to the skin. We skied steep supported north aspect slopes and avoided convex unsupported wind loaded north aspect slopes. We observed no instabilities in non-wind loaded north aspect slopes. South aspect open slopes were 15cm powder on top of uneven crust with lots of loose dry pinwheeling from 2000m to 1200m elevation. Treed slopes from 1700m-1500m were crusty and below 1500m were hard.

Weather

Clear with minimal to little alpine winds on and off through the day.
