Warm day out, air temp 1C at 1500m, 0C at 1800m. Signs of older avalanches on some West facing slopes steeper than 35 degrees. Suspect just before last snow deposition. Could use a couple more feet of snow to fill in the creeks/open water and bury some obstacles a bit better. Pit dug on NNW facing on 25-30degree slope down to ground/first snow. 3 separate extended column tests done. All 3 fractures propagated at 40cm down on poorly bonded layer. 2 at sixth hit from elbow, 3rd at first shoulder blow. Riding conditions were not great, thin crust on higher elevation snow, down to hot pow closer to FSR. But getting out and doing some avy recovery practice and seeing what the snowpack was up to was definitely worth it!
