Quick Observation
Great day above the clouds on Mt Hosmer! Travel to treeline was bushy but doable. A scary moment when we came upon a fresh half eaten elk (see pic). As for the snow we got a bit of everything, supportive crust down low, denser powder up top but nothing hollow/too firm. Skiing was great! Sizeable backfilled cornices all along the ridge. We dug at 2200 (SE, 30degree slope) only to find 70cm of snow! ECTX, CTH21 SC 30cm down on a 3cm crust. Beneath this crust was all facets! We were finding deeper snow at a similar elevation. On our way in we observed two old crowns likely one storm slab and one wind slab. Both size one.
