We attempted to climb the ridge between the Big Knuckle and the Little Knuckle; however to gain the ridge, involved climbing through some steep terrain. Slabs 10 cm thick were cracking at our skis, so we pulled the pin and went for some mellow laps in the sun instead. Pictures show ski cut and layers described below: Surface layer, 8cm of new snow, soft slab. Clean shear between soft slab and layer below, 2 cm thick, soft wind slab. Top 10 cm's reactive to ski cuts. Clean shear between soft wind slab and layer below. Crust from Jan 31 was down 40-50 cm and was also a clear shear, moderate trigger from hand pit tests, but did not react to ski cut.
