Early season conditions with very little snow on the Haines Pass. We found a small pocket of ok snow a short way up the knuckle of three guardsmen. We did not venture higher on the knuckle because we ran into sections of very firm snow and Sastrugi. Snow cover was shallow and rocks were present throughout.
We also poked down to 5-mile and conditions were very early season. Not enough snow to flatten aspens and willows. Looks like it will be a few weeks before conditions improve.
