Wolverine Ridge yesterday for an afternoon stroll from the Lake Louise Resort. Skiing was excellent in the upper parts (2350 meters) where the snowpack was supportive and provided boot-top powder in low angle terrain. Below tree line it was a bit like waterskiing where speed and sitting back on your tails kept you afloat.....until you stopped and found your tips buried in re-crystalized snow close to the ground. "Weak" snowpack but no signs of instability (whumpfing, cracking, avalanches...) observed while avoiding steeper terrain. Main concern would be to skier-trigger whatever cohesive slab there is on the plentiful basal facets on smooth surfaces out there.
Location: 51.44552902 -116.09184998
