polar steeps! wow!
sheltered & shaded. all you want & need.
fast travel thru the valley/creek bed. dry soft storm snow on mostly supportive crust up the apron.
lower couloir is full of storm slough (4F), consistent hardness down to any depth of interest. albeit, a little textured/runneled out. high ski quality.
mid/top of line is a patchwork of storm deposits and firm sloughed out styrofoam. few wind affected deposits of note, varying depths & hardness. mod/hard (RP/BRK) shears. ultimately all unreactive to skier load.
booted up to the top (ski-less), attempted a cornice tunnel to harvest some sun. bailed on that, cornice less anchored than hoped. knee deep soft wind deposited snow is filling the top metres of line. opted for the slightly lower drop in.
early AM valleyfog lifting for light overcast skies. light ridge winds producing some sloughs from the overhead walls. temp felt steady & comfortably cool.
