Above Shannon Basin

Skiing above Shannon basin was excellent today. We found powder in sheltered areas with soft slabs higher up above the entrance to Cleavage. Hand shears along the way gave resistant and non-planar results on density changes and a few jumps on convexities produced no cracking. We did notice a natural size one above the skin track on the way to Ledge Trees (see photo) around 1 pm. It looks to have run 30m down a steep (45+ degree) chute and was mostly unconsolidated surface snow.
