A Day Out in Mcdermid

Low cloud in Mcdermid Basin today! With limited visibility we didn’t see much, but we did observe a single size 1 wind slab release on a steep north alpine feature.
The snowpack at 2000 m is between 160-190 cm deep. We went out hunting for surface hoar but couldn’t find any where we went. We did find a thin breakable solar crust on steep south facing slopes.
The mid and lower snowpack are well settled.
Temps were mild, the wind was light and the skiing was good top to bottom, with the best skiing being in sheltered areas. Another great day to be out in the mountains :)
