Great day up at Brandywine where our objective was to check on slab formation of our new snow and get a sense of the different interfaces it accumulated on. We noted light to moderate south winds over the day failing to create much slab property with the 25cm of new snow on leeward slopes at ridge top, with new snow instead remaining low density and not producing significant results in our snow profile. We noted a few cm of slightly lower density snow at the old snow interface, no surface hoar where we looked at treeline and below, and only a thin, weak crust below the low density snow on solar aspects. Wind slabs could well be a greater concern on certain leeward slopes in the alpine.
