Quick Observation
Spent Saturday and Sunday skiing in the Keith’s hut area. Skied Aussie couloir Saturday but bailed 50m below the top due to some spooky windslab combined with high consequences of falling. Aussie skied poorly. Hard but edge able snow and pockets of hollow thin windskin/slab. We skied Sunset couloir later that day in 20cm of soft snow with no instabilities noted. Sunday we woke up to 10cm of new snow and bad vis. After a quick lap in Vantage trees we skied out. Noted isolated storm slabs and windlabs forming at tree line ontop of the crust. Winds were strong in the alp annd moderate at tl all morning. Over all this new snow is low density but in deep pockets slabs are forming. Access and egress to the hut are doable but expect some hiking and short stream crossings.
