Quick Observation
Given the lousy skiing conditions, we opted for a climbing day in the Thar peak vicinity. Our planned line looked in very poor condition, so we opted to climb the Thar couloir. We encountered many reactive wind slab areas which we were able to avoid at the lower part of the couloir. Higher up, about mid-height of the couloir the slab became unavoidable and honestly quite deep, hollow, and scary. We chose to try a left variation, which avoided the snow problems. If we didn't have gear for the mixed climb there, we would most likely retreat. Meanwhile, a group of skiers triggered an unexpectedly big for the forecast avalanche on the North side of the Thar/Nak col.
