Strathcona after the Storm

Today in the Strathcona Park area we found 20 to 30 cm of new wind-affected snow over the 50 to 60 cm of more settled snow from the weekend. In the upper snowpack, we had moderate test results on storm snow interfaces down 35 cm and 90 cm. Total snowpack depths were 215 cm at 1450 m. In the afternoon the sun was making the top 5 cm moist. The best skiing was on low angle north facing slopes where the wind slab and the day's sun effect had not yet touched.
