The Big Y

We sledded from Fraser down the tracks and up to the big Y. We parked the sled at the junction of the Y around 1400m. We skinned up a SW aspect to about 1500m. Winds were moderate from the west up top. HS was 180cm. We dug a hasty pit to asses the recent storm snow. It was not forming a slab and did not seem to be reactive where we were. We did observe some avalanches on steep north and south aspects within the big y valley. We believe these were from the recent new snow and the recent wind event. We will keep an eye on cornices that are building and wind loaded slopes, but the new snow appears to be bonding well.
