Quick Observation

This morning at 1020 a skier triggered a size 1.5 avalanche in a cross loaded slope by skiing too close to buried rocks (shallow snowpack). The skier was able to ski out, luckily. The storm slab propagated up the adjacent slope up to 60cm's thick failing on a faceted layer. The slide ran for approximately 100m and was 30m wide. Wind was light out of the north east, light flurries, 7cm's of new snow overnight, North/Northeast aspect apprx 30 - 35 deg.
