Quick Observation

The pavement-like 10cm crust that was created during the last warming event is buried by 15-20cm of fresh snow, which just isn't enough for great riding. Fortunately it was snowing moderately on the way out, so hopefully that changes soon. On a compression test, there were two resistant planar reactions in the moderate to heavy range (CTM 14 down 47, CTH down 52). The deep facet layer was non-reactive, but was 1.5 m deep at the pit site. The recent melt reduced the snowpack depth, and the concern would be that the December facet layer would be reactive in shallower wind affected areas, when riders look harder for decent snow.
