Paget Peak Slide Path 3

Tim Banfield, Wednesday 23rd October, 2024 9:32PM

We headed up to Sherbrooke Lake w the intent of being finished before the storm rolled in this afternoon. I put an uptrack in between the 2nd and 3rd avalanche paths in the mature trees on Paget Peak. It would be nice if someone else headed up there to not have all the effort go to waste. We had been up on Paget Sunday and the skiing up high was really good. Today it was probably more just on the good side. The good snow started around 2100m and we only went to 2300m. Below 2100m the snow was crusty and started to get quite heavy near the lake. The upper start zone was getting cross loaded with winds from southish. We stayed on the skiers left side of the 3rd path as the snow was sheltered by the trees. We did not observe or hear any avalanches at Sherbrooke today but did hear 2 in the parking lot around 8:30am. There was no wind at the lake, the winds were strong up high. The entrance to the parking lot might be challenging for lower clearance vehicles if the snow freezes. I included a pic in the report. My car said 7c and the snow on the ski out was very wet.
