Narao Glades

Did a couple of laps in Narao Glades. Surprisingly decent snow given the recent dry spell. Top of snow pack facettes out this week which helped. Good fresh lines could be found even though there were a myriad of uptracks and downtracks. Saw the results of prior avalanches running at tree line and pretty deep in surprisingly low angle terrain 25-28’ that was however exposed to wind. Some minor wind slab that was easily cut and could feel, at tree line, a nice crust that I didn’t trust much. No idea when the avalanches ran on the West aspect at about 2125m, but they were surprising deep (like 120cm) and seemed to have run a crust overlying facets to ground. Unsure if it was Halloween crust or some later crust, but activity was widespread likely a week ago as the crowns were still visible and only 15cm of snow had blown in. Irrespective, was a great run, and even more fun when I passed a group of 70yr olds skinning up and having a great time. Serious wind effect at tree line with hollow drum like sounds so I didn’t spend much time.
Picture of Cathedral attached - looks like a significant amount of areas released in the last natural cycle. Keeping an eye out on that one for late March !
