We hiked in snowshoes for 90% of time. Travel was slow due to the 2-3” crust layer with sugary snow under which gave zero purchase. Around 1200m we encounteted hard crust slabs in various sizes detaching from rock faces while cutting thru a section of 50 degrees plus terrain while managing wind loaded pockets at start zones of concave features. Leaner terrain was as anticipated by recent reports on Avcan site. Final thoughts are snowpack felt safe and our test pit at 1150m showed same results.
