What a day! The ride quality was all time. We set out on a mission to find good turns and to gather information on how the 60+ cm of HST was bonding. We were surprised at the lack of natural avalanche activity. However, our testing produced sudden collapse fractures down 67cm on the Jan 18 SH. This same layer was failing the full length of our extended column test block. Our sled cutting from a ridge crest produced a surprisingly large sz 2 avalanche(see photo). We were also surprised by how wide this slide propagated and how far it ran. We found it only to be reactive in areas where the HST had been affected by the wind and gain just the slightest bit of cohesion.
