Eldorado 199222

Mitchell Sulkers, Saturday 8th February, 2025 10:38PM

Thursday p.m. significant wind event from 1430-1930 hrs. Ridge top winds to 100 kph at ridge tops from NNW. Within 30min windslabs reacting remotely with shooting cracks to 15m. Within 1.5hrs, windslabs to 50cm failing remotely on steep lee terrain. Ski cuts to 30cm easy and running far on 35 degree entrances. Overnight, some cornice tab failures releasing wind deposits beneath. Specific deposition on S to SE exposures. By 190222 0900, slabs no longer reactive, but covered with 12cm HST. 50m elevation below ridges, snow non-wind affected and skiing well to 40cm ski pen at treeline. Did not poke into cross loaded alpine terrain on Friday as pre-existing windslabs to 50cm over 3mm facets would have certainly triggered under new load and rider traffic. Other than that, 8 days of fine conditions.
