msulkers, Saturday 8th February, 2025 10:38PM

Observed to skier-accidentals on convex rollover a pin site from earlier in the day. Both failing at interface between yesterday's storm snow and last night's. Crowns to 35cm running long One size1 and one 1.5. Other naturals observed in steep crossloaded or top-loaded lee zones with sudden convexities. Some failed as slabs and others as loose dry. Ski pen prodigious below treeline, with foot penetration over waist deep. Skied to 35 degrees in tight trees with minimal surface movement except on edges of large tree wells. In open trees skied to 30 degrees. Others skiing steeper open slopes with occasional loose dry to size 1. Test pits showed less energy on surface layers than yesterday, though 170203 surface hoar to 10mm plain to see at @50-60 down at 1840m. This failed in sudden collapse at CTM (11-15) 50cm down on two of three compression tests. 170116 crust facet combo down 80-120cm at treeline and sudden collapses at CTH (25-29) down 83-90 on tests. Block slid off column upon failure. Surface hoar and near surface facetting in progress during day.
