No pain at Cain

Vancouver Island

We had a great day of spring skiing in the Mount Cain area today. We were excited to find that it was spring break and the t-bar was running. No uptracking for us! We were able to get our eyes on avalanches that had run during the warm and sunny weather over the past few days. A mix of slab avalanches and wet loose up to size 2.5 coated all aspects and elevations. Despite the warm weather, we did not find any remaining signs of instability. Below tree line is starting to fall below the threshold for avalanches again, rocks and stumps are poking back through.
