Back Side East Peak

esherwin, Wednesday 23rd October, 2024 9:33PM

Very foggy day, but we were still determined to get some riding in. We observed sections of snow where cracking was present on the West facing aspect which we planned to ride. With the cracking in mind we rode tightly treed areas where we could. We saw signs of instability where small wind slabs were easily released but did not slide down slopes. However, one slab triggered by first rider did run down steeper section of terrain but rider was able to stop at top of feature in safe area. slab was roughly 20~25cm thick. After encountering the very touchy wind loaded areas we stuck to low angle slopes and dense trees for the remainder of the day.
