Mountain Conditions Report

Here is a bit of info gathered from skiing in gentle terrain above the Manning lifts.

There is now 90 - 120cm of snow above the January 16 melt freeze crust. Yesterday the upper 25cm was actively naturally avalanching on steeper N aspects as widespread soft slabs.
At that aspect a test showed it was bonding poorly on stellar crystals, CTE 1 sudden planar. A compression test on the Jan 16 crust had a hard and irregular break. There where a couple of other moderate compression results above the Jan 16 crust that where resistant planar. Most of the snow in this upper meter is 4F and F hard.
Warming conditions made the snow a bit heavier yesterday. The average 2+ meter snow pack depth is filling in creeks and sharp features very well.
