This is not the right way down.

Took a trip up mongolia ridge to see what was going down with the new snow and weird wind. Day was very cold and wind was building. Dug a pit on a south east aspect slope. Found snow to be 175cm in depth, with the very hard early winter crust down 150cm. Roughly 20cm thick. Extended column test: Couldn’t cut through the crust so only isolated the columns to there. ECTN at hit 21 down 35cm Compression test: Isolated through the crust, failures at 1, 4, 5, 12, 25 &26 taps, all failing above the crust. All Q3, rough broken planes. So far so in line with the bulletin! Decided to ride north west aspect down to resort due to building wind, saw some sluffing but in small amounts isolated to rider. Some shabby quality noticed, but nothing stiff or large. Went the wrong way and learnt where to give a wider margin next time (picture 3!) All in all a good reccy for future missions.
