East Peak Powder
Kootenay Boundary
PARK , Saturday 11th January, 2025 10:15PM
Powder day up on east peak with about 10 cm of fresh snow. Up top on the ridge moderate to severe winds and very wind affected. We skied the south / south east face of east peak, not much affected by the wind. The day was cloudy and windy, clearing up a bit in the afternoon. No noticeable signs of instability. The powder was fresh, made for some nice turns !
Quick snow pit dug on the first ascent. Compression test gave CTM15 and CTM17 down 20cm The blocks broke unevenly, did not slide with ease, and were not very cohesive, breaking apart fairly easily.
