Ski toured up at Harvey Pass today.
Any where from 10 to 25 cm of low density new snow depending on exposure to wind, overlying an aggressive melt freeze crust from recent atmospheric river. Knife resistance, wide spread all the way up to 2300 m all aspects and beyond, just didn’t bother going higher. Difficult to get a shovel through but once we did it was about 15 cm thick. HS at approximately 2200 m on the Northern aspects was 120 cm. Very little slab property in new snow observed. A slight wind skin in some areas. Only sign of recent avalanche activity was on loose dry point release Size 1.0 from steep rocky terrain.
Ski quality on low angle terrain was better than anticipated. Stayed away from steep slopes due to ski quality not hazard concerns. However lots of snow available for transport and windslab formation.
