My Fernie summit.

benjackman85, Saturday 8th February, 2025 10:38PM

Climbed to the mt Fernie summit via fairy creek drainage. Lots of evidence of previous avalanche cycles to nearly valley floor...made for some tricky skinning at first. But once above found most of the snow on the surface was faceted out...not much slab property. Kept clear of any suspect slopes that may still hold Jan 24 persistent slabs. no obvious whumphing. Once in the alpine, more previous avalanche activity was observed and blown over. Most alpine terrain wind hammered. Kept a conservative line down the summit face as it was wrecked by wind. No signs of current instabilities observed through the day. New surface hoar growth noted on solar aspects at TL.
