We attempted the S face of Mt Whymper. Conditions pretty much mimicked the forecast. Great snow when you didn’t ski over the old debris. We turned around close to 2650m as we had been boot packing up with about 30-40cm over the windslab layer and with limited alpine observations in the forecasts/mins we decided to go down before starting up the large open slope before the summit slopes. We had one whumph near a rock while boot packing and one small release of 10cm-15cm while skiing down that was not surprising. Winds picked up after noon and seemed to be coming in the direction of the cornices above.
