Will sled for sun!

South Rockies

Today at Mear Lake the SoRo crew spent the day sledding around, looking at the snowpack, and enjoying the sunshine. We saw no signs of recent avalanches. It was - 7 at 1600m towards the Bull River, and -10 at 2000m at Mear Lake (temps are dropping!) Snowpack depth was 80 cm, shallow and faceted, but still quite strong. Although we hunted, we couldn't find surface hoar lingering in sheltered areas. The snow was soft in the trees, but wind affected in more open pieces of terrain. Surprisingly we didn’t feel any wind, and enjoyed being able to sled in the sun. A great way to end the week!
