Skier accidental on a North facing steep alpine moraine producing a size 1, no involvement. The crown was on average 20-30cms deep and 85M wide and maybe 200m long, running to the top of the runout. Debris was soft and 50cms at the deepest. Bed surface was large facets, but the avalanche did not entrain the facets much. Slab was triggered by a skier skiing onto the steep convexity of the moraine. Despite warm temperatures and the recent avalanche activity that was occurring on solar aspects, cold dry snow is still found on north facing terrain. Good learning experience to still be on the lookout for dry slab avalanches as you travel through steep northerly aspects.
