Jimmy Jr Bowl

charlielang.ski, Saturday 14th December, 2024 8:00AM
Great day out at jimmy jr. Busy with lots of traffic but managed a lap down skiers right ish of the main bowl away from most of the skiers. Lap 2 we ventured into the north facing couloir mentioned in a MIN from Wednesday. Boot packed about 15m higher than the previous tracks. Found fantastic snow. As mentioned in that Wednesday MIN we noticed the old windslab underneath the fresher snow while bootpacking but noticed no instability once the skis were on. On the skin up from the E side of the couloir we saw some natural pinwheeling but didn’t feel any cracking or whumpfing. Much more snow out this way than k country at the moment. Still early season and ran into 1 or 2 sharks but overall very impressed with coverage. Noticeable wind effect the entire way across the bowl with lots of wind loading in the little gullies throughout the bowl. Didn’t feel any reactivity from anything, just variable depth in the powder on top, especially on the skin up. Wind was coming from the NNW and light flurries starting at about 11:45 ish started to fill some tracks. Overall excellent day out, only thing to make it better would be some better lighting, was very flat today.
