Mountain Conditions Report

Finishing 5 days of ski touring on the west end of jasper national park. We found a well settled snow pack below tree line with good snow. Wind slabs and some variable surface conditions were present in the alpine, but still skied well. Snowpack tests showed hard results down 30cm at and above tree line, and no significant results below tree line. We skied only supported terrain in the alpine, and up to 40 degrees below. Snowpack varied from 170 to 250 cm in most areas. It seemed the coverage was better than other years for this time frame. Spectacular views in all directions. Look for the lightly rippled snow surface up high, it usually skis better than the smooth surfaces.
