Surface Hoar
Cariboos

The entire Belle Mountain riding area has been hammered by winds in the alpine (changing today as it is snowing S3 at my house right now). We found a nice sheltered pocket of snow to ski and the snowpack generally felt weak and faceted @ 2100m; HS 105. Buried SH down 35 produced easy shear results but nothing on our ECT (ECTN22). Of significant note was the lack of wind and afternoon sun prior to this storm. Surface Hoar (5mm) was found on our sheltered NE slope and will likely be buried under this new snow. Expect buried SH below this new snow in sheltered locations.
