Bow Summit - deep and unstable

jake.finnan, Saturday 8th February, 2025 10:38PM

Deep fresh snow at bow summit. Unsupportive facets below about 50cm of new snow made trail breaking a chore. Tons of wind transport noted today with strong winds. Recent natural activity noted in several places. Snowpack test result was poor. 2275m - treeline - NE aspect - 28 degree slope. CTE2 sudden planar 50cm down AND sudden collapse 110cm down simultaneously. Skied mellow slopes at treeline and had a slow go with all of the powder, needed much fatter skis! Ski quality was fantastic, but conditions did not allow for steep skiing. Be safe and patient!
