Zoa peak

bjornvegsund, Saturday 8th February, 2025 10:38PM

Two parties involved in avalanches today on Zoa at same time. One larger group triggered a propagating slab avalanche approximately 150-200 m across and up to 67cm deep on surface host base. No burials no injuries. Our party chose a mellower ridge line but encountered a convexité that steepened. First skier triggered a slab avalanche and cArried downhill about 30-40 m. Airbag deployed , no injuries. Other skier was off to side spotting him and got caught and swept into a tree over a cliff. Not buried not injured. HS here was 225 cm. Crown 50 Cm on a buried hoar frost later. Easy propagation. Probed to find another deeper crust at 150 Cm. Temp about -5c. This was a north facing slope. Buried hoar layer seems to be abundant here.
