Today we skied coquihalla lakes ridge and during the skin we noted some cracking on the track from a thin breakable wind slab. While travelling up, we did several hand shear tests which showed a faceting layer down 40cm from 1200m - 1500m on SE/S aspects. Old ski tracks are filled in with snow, powder pockets in sheltered areas, and some sastrugi at ridge top. Snow profile in pit had a decomposing stellar interface at 30cm and faceting layer at 40-50cm. No extensive rotting around facets but there is a large temperature gradient around the faceting layer. CTM14 BRK on faceting layer and ECTX. Thin overcast, -12 degrees, light wind from NE. Conditions going down were great! No new avalanches observed.
