Boot pack from the high traverse up Snake Ridge to 1700m where a pit was dug on the NW side of the ridge. ECTN-7 on the top layer, which is an approximately 7-10cm wind slab likely from the new snow + wind yesterday. ECTN-19 on a second deeper layer around 30cm. Possibly from the higher winds earlier in the week packing down the Xmas week snow. No propagation and ski cut of nearby 40deg slope that did not trigger meant I still skied down. Traversed into the lower angle terrain in the middle of the bowl. A hand shear test here showed the ~10cm wind slab again with moderate difficulty to release. Skiing quality was packed pow but still fun. Noticed a recent small size 1 release of the wind slab from someone’s ski traverse where there was a short convex rollover of maybe 40deg. Best skiing was probably in the more sheltered trees straight off the back of Snake Ridge.
