Skied open, steep alpine to BTL slopes. Shaded, south aspect (in the shadow of beasts with one month out from the solstice). One of many parties in the region this day and all the standard lines getting skied around Destiny and Hilda Ridges.
Hilda Creek snowpack is shallow, but enough coverage and support to travel. Rocky and shallow through the moraines; more of an issue on the way out, check your speed! Good support travelling through open trees, to TL and into the alpine, 2500m on Hilda Ridge. No cracking, whumphing, or other signs of instability. Wanted to dig a profile at TL but, not much snow! This aspect was bare of snow in late Oct and the Oct crust is on the ground with only 40cm HS up to 60cm. The crust keeps you off the ground but lots of bigger hidden rock hazards and most of my p-tex. Beautiful day of touring!
