Trophy Meadows

Was able to drive the road to Trophy Meadows till 1500m or so. Active work being done on road 80. Skied and walked until consistent snow at about 1700m. Icy refreeze in the AM. Punch through to ground on wet snow on exit. 70-90cm of snow at tree line. About 5-7cm sitting on thick supportive crust. The new snow had melted and refrozen at least once. Skied well. At 2000m I punched through the crust while boot packing to the ridge in a shallow zone. No melt here. Crust about 30cm thick on top of 40cm of facets and surface hoar. Ridgetops retained large cornices on all aspects
