Went out the the Corral to investigate the snowpack today. I took a very conservative line up skier's right end of Cowboy Ridge, hiding in the trees. Lots of settlement (not whumphing) climbing up from the creek, suspect facets collapsing in the snowpack. Dug a test pit at 1900 m North asp. CTM12 down 20 on preserved stellars, CTM16 down 25 sudden colapse on SH 10mm, CTH21 down 60 on facets below ice crust. This is the second time in two days I have come across reactive SH. The snowpack it's self was 50 cm of fist to 1 finger (with a SH layer in the middle) then a series of laminate layers of facets and decomposing crusts for 35 cm sitting on a well settled snow pack. This is a very unusual and reactive snowpack for the coast. I skied very carefully today. Tim Ross ACMG ski guide
