New snow in Nordstrom

Today in the Nordstrom area we found 50 cm of soft snow over a melt-freeze crust. On steep solar facing slopes a breakable crust had formed but the north facing slopes were cool and dry. There was no new avalanche activity today but several size 1 to 1.5 loose avalanches from the day before. The persistent weak layer is down 110 cm and seems to be unreactive, but we will continue to monitor shallow rocky areas in the alpine where this layer may be triggered. There is snow available for transport so when the winds pick up we will likely see wind slab development.
