Report from the fresh new snow at Red Heather - generally looked solid, with subtle signs of instability. Good ride quality, if a bit heavy. Waist deep out there!
Lots of heavy fresh snow - we dug down to 110 cm near the top of Round on the SW aspect. Our compression test had a fissure on the 2nd elbow tap, about 30cm down in the fresh new layer, with two hard (rain?) crusts in the snowpack, one at 30 and one at 65cm. We noticed some potential cracks on the steeper slopes during the day, and saw some pinwheeling. We also saw some slight sluffing/sliding in the steeper slopes, so we stayed away from convexities and were careful in the steeper terrain.
