Mashed Potatoes but the Gravy is soooo good

curtis, Saturday 8th February, 2025 10:38PM

Amazing day in the mountains. Light rain to 1500m with a thin crust made trail travel not so enjoyable. Moist/wet snow to 1500m Tree tops snapping off from the weight and tree bombs a plenty running fast on steep trailside banks within the new storm snow. Very foggy day with glimpses of sun, but fog limited alpine travel. Very little wind today but evidence of widespread wind slabbing in the alpine creating that stiff slab over the weaker storm snow. 300cms total snow height on a lee alpine feature. Generally well settled midpack but upper storm snow and windslab reactive and will likely continue to gain cohesion which may lead to propagation(larger shooting cracks and or avalanches in steeper terrain). No avalanche activity, but we did see some short shooting cracks on steep convex features. Ride safe
