Frosty Mountain

Skied Frosty Mountain NE face on Sunday Jan 26. Conditions were a lot better than we expected - sheltered, shaded trees had 20-30cm unconsolidated snow on a crust. Alpine had about 5-10cm unconsolidated snow on a crust.
A few avalanche observations.
1. Widespread surface hoar forming at below treeline and treeline, from about 1400m to 2100m
2. We had some size 0.5-1 loose dry avalanches in the alpine and treeline. This was the 5-10cm of light snow sliding on the underlying crust, triggered by rider turns. See picture of Frosty NE face, lookers left.
3. We did notice some wet loose avalanches and pinwheeling on S slopes. We did not ski any of these slopes, so cannot comment on the reactivity.
Overall an amazing day on Frosty. Ski out of Frosty Creek was... heinous as per usual.
