Great day skiing in the Pulpit area. Busy area with at least 4 other groups, usually on top of each other in some way. Slough management was key.
We heard many avalanches all day, likely mostly sloughs from steeper terrain, but we did hear one two avalanches that really rumbled, from probably at least 2km away, those sounded larger than just sloughing off cliffs. Ski cuts resulted in sloughs in steep terrain, >35 degrees. Sloughs ran full slope (200 - 500m) down ~15 cm, and were size 1 - 1.5. Seriously, there may not be good skiing on the slopes we skied, we sloughed it all away. Sorry Sunday skiers.
Storm snow levels increased from 10cm at valley bottom to 30cm of blower powder at 2300m. We did not observe any wind effect on north or east facing slopes at and below treeline. PS 30cm, PF 50cm @ treeline.
Weather was very wet! Snowfall rates were S1 to S2 all day and we got drenched (and cold). Visibility was low all day. Clouds started to lift near the end of the day.
We were very cognizant of our sloughs and the fact there may be people below us and avoided skiing above any skin tracks so as not to cause a big slough to hit someone. Maybe something to keep in mind in busy locations. We also avoided really steep, >40 degree terrain, all gully features, and any feature we could get sloughed over a cliff.
Overall a great day.
