Nordstrum Powder (not really, sorry)

We drove / then sledded / then ski toured up onto Nordstrum Ridge today. This is one of our generally lower-snowpack haunts, and (sadly) it lived up to its reputation. 50 cm snowpack at 2000 m. Calm winds, mostly overcast, -4 all day, no new snow :-(. …………… Nothing strikingly different to the last many days in other areas, with Surface Hoar developing, as well as Near Surface Faceting …. this makes for nice light fast skiing, with the raincrusts keeping us off the ground, but we actually spent most of our time (both skinning up and sliding down) avoiding stumps, fallen trees, rocks, etc, so would not recommend going here for the sledding or skiing right now. Having said that, dang …… the views of Mts Washburn, Terrion, and Gydosic were awesome !
